Indian workers put work prestige and pride over salary
A new international workforce survey conducted by Kelly Services has found that Indian workers are prepared to accept lower salaries if their work is part of something more meaningful and important.

The survey was conducted among 1,00,000 workers in 34 countries, which included nearly 3,500 Indians. 94% of the Indians professed a sense of pride in their work while 92% said that it boosted their self-confidence. While 62% Indian IT workers said they were willing to sacrifice their income and status for more meaningful work.

The survey findings reinforced the role of the employers in boosting employee morale and bringing out the best in them by offering stimulating, exciting and meaningful work. Employee needs and aspirations were bound to change over time and not remain static and thus the challenges at each stage needed to be assessed afresh to keep the motivation levels high.
